Local Prohibition Era Stories
Frequently referred to as America’s greatest societal experiment and mistake, Prohibition filled the Napa County newspapers full of unique stories. These true historical accounts range from the expected to the surprising as well as tragic to amusing. They will feature accounts of the routine saloon and speak-easy raids to shoot-outs to measures taken to side step the law including grape bricks, dried fruit marinated in liquor as well as medicinal and sacramental exemptions. Discover these local stories and more with local historian and Napa Valley Register columnist, Rebeca Yerger.
